Freeze your credit at Innovis (the fourth bureau)
Few people have heard of Innovis, but some lenders use it. A freeze closes that gap.
This is free. You don't need Free My ID to do it.
Printing this for someone? Press Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on a Mac).
- Cost
- Free under the FTC's rule that freezes are free. The Innovis page itself does not state a price.
- Time
- About 10 minutes online. Then wait for a letter.
- Official site
- innovis.com
What to have ready
- Your Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Your current address
- A printer or pen if you use the mail form
Step by step
- Open the Innovis security freeze web address above.
- Fill in the online 'Security Freeze Request' form, or download the mail-in PDF form.
- Phone option: call 1-866-712-4546.
- Innovis checks it is you. When the freeze is on, you get a letter with a 10-digit PIN.
- Keep that PIN somewhere safe. You need it to lift the freeze.
Opens innovis.com, the official website.
Good to know
- Keep the letter with your PIN in a safe place. Without it, lifting the freeze takes extra steps.
- Questions? Innovis Consumer Assistance is 1-800-540-2505.
How to undo it
Ask for a 'lift PIN' or a replacement PIN online, by phone or by mail, then use it to lift or remove the freeze.
