Help a parent get their details off people-search sites

If your mom, dad or grandparent's name, address and phone number show up on people-search sites, you can help them ask for it to be taken down. It's free, and you don't need to be technical.

Do I need their permission?

Yes. Do this with them, not for them. Many sites ask the person on the listing to confirm, often with a link sent by email that you'll need to open together.

Make a new, free email address just for removals. Confirmation links and any follow-up mail then stay out of their main inbox.

What do we need before we start?

Popular guides: Whitepages, Spokeo, TruePeopleSearch, BeenVerified.

What should we not share?

Will the listings come back?

They can. Some sites can list people again under a new record, so check their name again now and then, and repeat the steps for anything that came back.

What if they'd rather not do it by hand?

Free My ID is a free, open-source Windows app that sends the removal requests for you and keeps checking. Their details are stored on their computer, and nothing is sent to us. There's no account. It works on people-search and data-broker sites only.
