Claim your my Social Security account (before a thief does)
If you do not have an account, a thief can make one in your name and redirect your benefits. Making your own, or blocking online access, closes that door.
This is free. You don't need Free My ID to do it.
Printing this for someone? Press Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on a Mac).

- Prefer that nobody, including you, can use your account online? Call SSA at 1-800-772-1213 (or visit a local office) and ask to block electronic access. You will be asked to prove who you are. Check this phone number on the official site before you call.
